KC Domestic Tournaments - 2nd Week Jan 2017


KC T20 Premier League 2016

In this week's Division 1 match, Aroma scored a crucial victory by defeating star-studded Petrofac, by 26 runs, to win bag two precious points. Petrofac team failed to capitalize on getting any early wickets of Aroma after winning the toss and sending them to bat. Aroma openers Mohammed Asghar and Ravija Desilva started brightly and gave them a fantastic start. With some good contributions from Usman Waheed and Aslam, Aroma ended up with 177/4 on the board in 20 overs. Azmad Muttala and Deepak Muralidharan were economical with the ball. They both took 2 wickets by conceding 25 and 26 runs respectively in their four overs. Petrofac's free-scoring opener Aamir Javed looked in ominous touch early on, but he failed to capitalize on a fantasic start. He was dismissed by Pradeep Wasantha for 32 from just 19 balls. Then it was Mohammed Asghar's 5 wicket hall that destroyed Petrofac middle order and halted their run chase. Asghar's all round performance who made 38 runs with the bat turned out to be the match-winning performance. He got the Man of the Match award. 

Lexus defeated DHL by 57 runs in  Division 2-A match held at Tack Entertainment City Ground, Doha. Muhammed Ansar of DHL bowled a fierce spell of fast bowling and took 4 wickets to peg back Lexus team to just 132/9 in 20 overs. Mohammed Rifkaz and Gokuldas Murli stood out and he was instrumental for Lexus in getting a decent total on the board. Rifkaz top scored with 41 runs. Chasing down a relatively easy score, DHL lost wickets at regular intervals and they were not able to put up a fight at all, thanks to some steady bowling by Lexus. Roshan Fernandes and Kiran Lobo stood out in the bowling department. Both took 3 wickets each. Though, Rifkaz who took 1 wicket and 41 runs took home the man of the match trophy. 

KC T20 Desert Championship 2016

Black Mambaz Cricket Club continued their winning run in the tournament when they defeated Lanka Lions by 67 runs in Division 2-A match. Having won the toss, Black Mambaz had no hesitation in choosing to bat first. Opener Nishad Abdullah was back to his brilliant best and he scored 73 off just 41 deliveries. He was given a valiant support by Ismail Vadakkekolayath. Ismail scored 68 off 41. Black Mambaz posted a huge total of 215/7 on the board which was a challenging total for Lanka Lions to chase. Dushantha Waruna took 4 wickets during the course of the innings for Lanka Lions. The match was reduced to 18 overs due to slow over rate, and the mission was even bigger for Lanka Lions as a result. They ended up with 148 on the board and the limelight was 14-year-old upcoming star Gokul SunilKumar's fantastic bowling performance. Gokul took 3 wickets and gave away just 17 runs in 3 overs and he was chosen as the man of the match as a result. 

Indian Strikers won against Kangaroo Logistics by 62 runs in Division 2-B match at KABD MG2 ground. Star player Nikhil Kulkarni scored a fantastic unbeaten century of 131 off just 75 balls to take indian strikers to 212/4 in 20 overs. There wasn't much for Kangaroo Logisitcs in the bowling department which was a bit dissapointing from their point of view. They tried to fight back with the bat, but the target was too big for them and they ended up 62 runs short. Nikhil undoubtedly got the Man of the Match award for his blistering innings which contained 20 boundaries and 1 six.
