KC Premier league 2016

Arch rivals Aroma Cricket Club defeated Safety plus Q8 Calicut in a crucial match at the KC premier league match at TACK Doha Entertainment City Ground. Aroma Cricket Captain Ali Talib won the toss and chose to bat first on a decent wicket. Both Aroma openers Ravija De Silva and Usman Waheed started cautiously, seeing off the new ball in the initial overs. The pair struck a partnership of 59 for the opening wicket and it was Mohammed Rizwan who gave Safety plus the much-needed breakthrough. Ravija then took on the bowlers joined by Kashif Sherif. The stylish Srilankan then dispatched the bowlers to all around the park and scored a splendid 84 off 60 runs with the help of 5 boundaries and 4 sixes. He was caught by Sasanka off Sanal PC's delivery. The pair added 99 runs in just 55 balls. After the dismissal of Ravija, Kashif took on the baton of finding quick runs. He scored 48 runs off 24 balls with 2 fours and 4 sixes before being dismissed by Sanal Pc. Aroma ended up with 177/4 in 20 overs. Sanal PC was the pick of the bowlers for Safety plus with the figures of 3-0-23-2.

Safety plus needing 178 to win had to find some partnerships going to chase down the score. Khalid Butt the legendary figure in Kuwait, started off in his flamboyant fashion by dispatching the very first ball to the stands and followed by a boundary 2 balls later. But Pradeep struck a huge blow by trapping him in front of the wicket and that gave Aroma a fantastic start. Aroma then managed to pick 3 wickets in the powerplay which pegged Safety plus back. Muhammed Farook and Sasanka fought back a bit but Safety plus lost the wickets at regular intervals. Sulfkar Salim's late surge also proved to be insufficient as Aroma won the match by 2 wickets. Mohammed Asghar took 3 wickets, Ahsan Naseer and Mohammed Tayeeb took 2 wickets each. Ravija De Silva was chosen as the man of the match for his excellent batting.

Stacco Khaleegia moved top to the top of the table with a victory over KM11 by 66 runs at Tack Entertainment City Ground, Doha. Khaleegia was in real trouble initially, and at one moment, they were 69/6 and KM11 threatened them to dismiss cheaply. But Haseeb Ali came to the rescue and smashed 50 off just 29 balls coming in at number 8. His innings took Khaleegia to 167/9 in 20 overs. Arshad Ali, Nouman Fakhr and Naveed Fakhr took 2 wickets each for KM11. In the second part of the match, KM11 was never settled and the disciplined bowling attack of Khaleegia dismissed them for 101 to register a 66 runs win. Haseeb Ali was the difference between the teams, and he got the Man of the match award.

 KC Desert Championship 2016

Artech Cricket Club defeated Desert Knights by 30 runs to maintain their lead in Group A of Division 2. Winning the toss, Artech openers started good and scored a partnership of 53 off 42 balls. Though Artech team didn't find a blockbuster partnership, all players chipped in and played their part with Arjun Mahesh leading from the front. Arjun top scored with an unbeaten 50 off 35 balls. Artech managed to post 176 runs on the board with the loss of 5 wickets. Chasing down 176 was never easy for Desert Knights against a strong Artech bowling attack. But Desert Knights were on course banging on some excellent batting by Abdul Razzak. Desert Knights team stayed in the hunt till Tahir Naeem got out but the batsmen followed couldn't give the support he needed afterward. Credit goes to the Artech bowlers who kept the pressure up and they took wickets at regular intervals. Razzak scored 69 off 40 balls and shined bright despite the defeat. Arjun Mahesh was brilliant with the bowl too as he picked up 3 important wickets and destroyed Desert Knight's middle order. Arjun was adjudged as the man of the match for his excellent all round performance.
